Why are the baby birds I'm feeding screaming and biting?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hello! Well, yesterday we found three baby sparrows and they haven't opened their eyes yet. We are feeding them cat food every hour and they eat well. They still don't ask for food so we have to force them to eat. Today, they started screaming out of nowhere, they do it and then they stop. In one of these screaming "episodes" I looked in and they were very agitated biting everything even their brothers. I would like to know the reason please! Thank you very much!

If you've found wild baby birds it would be best to try and find a local wildlife rehabilitation center in your area to turn them over to. The biting could be that they have an underlying illness or injury that needs to be treated, or they are hungry/not getting the right nutrition and so are becoming agitated. A wildlife rehab center can ensure they get the correct food, and can treat any injuries so that the birds can be released back into the wild once they are old enough.
