My dog's eye bump changed to purple and hard. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 6 years and 8 months old | 55 lbs

About two weeks ago, I noticed a bump near my dogs eye and it was soft. Now, it’s purple and hard. He doesn’t seem to have any symptoms or discomfort from it however I just don’t know if it’s going to continue to get bigger and/or if I should have it looked at.

I would have it looked it to see what It is. I would be worried about a tumor since it is changing over 2 weeks and not improving but that does not make it cancer! Your vet can aspirate cells to see if it is a tumor or a cyst or infection to see if medicine or surgery is needed
