Hi, I just adopted lacey my guinea pig from MSPCA 2 days ago. i brought her to the vet yesterday because she had labored breathing and i got worried. they took x rays and turns out she has pneumonia and a heart murmur and shes also very underweight. her lungs are almost completely filled with fluids and shes now on critical care, enrofloxcacin, bene-bac gel and 3 vitamin c tablets daily. what are her chances of living? my vet said she might not make it :'(.

I'm so sorry to hear that Lacey is unwell. It sounds like you are doing everything you can to help the little girl. Guinea pigs are delicate creatures and generally do not handle stress of illness well, but the good news is that it sounds like she is on the right medications to treat her pneumonia. If you are not seeing an improvement in her breathing in the next 2-3 days, I would take her back to the vet and see if they need to make any adjustments to her antibiotics or other medications. I hope this helps, and that Lacey feels better soon. Best of luck and happy holidays.
