Why does my dog need a 10-day quarantine after biting someone?

Can I know what is the purpose of the 10 day quarantine for dogs after the dog bit someone?

This is because of the Rabies virus which is fatal and can be transmitted to humans. a dog with rabies can only infect others once the virus has reached the brain and salivary gland, from this point on the dog will die within 10 days. the purpose of the quarantine is to make sure your dog survives the 10 days, if he doesn't then the people he has bitten need to have a series of vaccinations/serum against rabies in order to survive.
