Why can't my Cocker Spaniel puppy see properly? Is it cataracts?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Cocker Spaniel | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 6 days old

I had my suspicions but my 12 week old cockerspanial can't see properly. She doesn't look at me but at my knees. The vet said she will need an eye specialist. He explained that there were bits on her lenses that give her all these blind spots but I can't remember what he said it was, jest that cockerspanial s are prone to this. Any info would be much appreciated. Thankyou

I can't say for sure without seeing it, but it could have been a cataract that the vet saw. These will cause spots in the lens and Cocker Spaniels are genetically predisposed to getting them. This breed is also predisposed to retinal defects, so that may also be a possibility. I hope that helps and all is well with Polly.
