My cat has a bruised, swollen leg. Does he need to see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 years and 8 months old

Hello, my cat has some odd bruising and swelling I've noticed this morning. He has been licking it so some of the fur is gone but he doesn't seem to be in any pain and he isn't acting any differently. Any advice on how to help or if he needs to be taken in would be great! I have attached the best picture I can get, it is on his back right leg.

YEs, with this extensive bruising and swelling I would recommend a full check up as soon as possible as he may have an internal injury. Keep him well rested and confiend and keep him fasting as he may require sedation for a full investigation
