Adopting a cat with meningitis? Is it curable? What should I know?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Russian Blue | Male | neutered

Hello. I'm adopting a cat soon. But the current owner said that the cat has meningitis on it's scratch wound by playing with other cats. Is the disease curable? Is there anything I should look out for before I adopt a cat?

I recommend you seek a full veterinary report from her treatment before you adopt her and discuss the long term outlook with the treating vet. Meningitis is inflammation of the brain and very rare so i recommend you confirm the exact conditions she has been diagnosed with and feel free to repost if you have additional information and queries
