My cat has recurring sores on his back. Could someone be hurting him?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 4 years and 10 months old

My car has small sores on his back end! It started as the size of a 10cent piece and healed. The fur had not yet grown back when we noticed that he had 2 more come back in the same spot (they look like cigarette burns) they healed again and just a patch of skin with no fur, we have noticed again today, now 3 small sores that again look like cigatette burns. Any idea what this could be? We are worried someone might be hurting him when he is outside.

Poor Vinnie. This looks like possible bite wounds with a bacterial infection or a fungal infection or even a parasite (less likely). Since they keep trying to heal and reoccurring, I would have your vet take a look. Your vet will be able to properly clean them and see what type of medicine he needs to be on. If he is licking them, I would put a cone collar on him to prevent this. I hope this helps!
