Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed
Took my cat to the vet due to a swollen bottom lip. The vet said it looked like an allergic reaction and that I could have them give her a shot to help with the swelling. Now my question is, is there another option besides the shot? She already was there a few times and had many pokes for blood being drawn due to the fact that for two months she had sores on her lips from her liver levels being bad. Liver levels are good again and she is done with the meds but now a monthlater she is swollen lip

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Sparkle! Do you know what the shot was? Steroids? Antibiotics? If yes, then there are liquid or pill options. If Sparkle has a swollen lip from infection or allergies those medications are needed to help her. If you choose another formulation of the drug, you will have to administer the medications daily which can be hard to do in cats. The injections would eliminate the need for you to have to medicate her. The steroid injections last about 2-4 weeks and the antibiotic injection can last up to 2 weeks. I would discuss different formulations with your Vet since I do not know the exact drugs they wanted to use. I hope this helps and I wish Sparkle a speedy recovery!
