My cat's lip is swollen after Clavamox. Is it an allergic reaction?

Allergic reactions can cause swelling, however if the area is also blistering or oozing debris it is possible there could be an abscess (infection), virus, burn, ulceration, or other issue causing her symptoms. It would be best to bring her into your vet to have the area examined, especially if the swelling is in the face/mouth.

This is very likely to be caused by an allergy (very commonly this could be caused by an insect bite or bee sting) or possibly due to an infection. If the signs do not improve or resolve in about 24-36 hours a check up at your local veterinarian is needed.

The swelling on Autumn’s lip could be due to a few conditions. It’s possible it is related to an infection in the adjacent teeth. It could also be a viral infection. Or there may be some injury to the inside of the lip. If the swelling does not go down within 24 hours or if it seems painful, I recommend to have her examined by the veterinarian. You may try to gently apply a cool, not cold, compress to the area twice a day for five minutes if she will allow you. Best of luck.

It would be unusual for allergies to only affect one side (although cats are prone to 'eosinophilic plaques from hypersensitivities) and the cobblestone appearance of the inside of the lip is a little concerning. I recommend a full physical exam by your vet - they may wish to sedate him to take samples of the area to rule out sinister causes and to guide the most appropriate treatment

Without a picture it's difficult to guess, but lip swelling can be a rodent ulcer, which is usually due to an allergy. Make sure Leonardo is on flea prevention and you can also try switching his water and food bowls to a different material. If it doesn't go away you should see a vet as he may need further treatment.

The swelling could be caused by blunt trauma (for example if she run into something) or allergic reaction. If it is not bothering Kitty at all, is not itchy or painful when you touch it, I would leave it for another 2-3 days. Most of the mild swelling regardless on the cause should disappear within 5-7 days. If the swelling becomes itchy, painful or gets bigger, please take Kitty to your local vets for a check up.

Cats can sometimes get the same kinds of mouth and lip diseases that people get. Perhaps she bumped it against something or scraped it on rough surface as she was being curious. Another reason for swollen lips are possible allergic reactions to insect bites or noxious substances. In addition, dental disease or improper teeth occlusion can can cause lip abrasions. My best advice is this: As long as she is eating, drinking, and playing normally, give the lip 3 days to improve and get smaller. If there is no improvement in that time, or if the lip gets bigger in the meantime, please have her seen by your veterinarian for a thorough oral examination. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! That is a great picture and I can see what you are referring to clearly. I am concerned that this could be a growth for example. Another possibility is that her canine tooth is rubbing on the gum tissue and causing inflammation and an examination would help determine if that seems likely. I highly recommend that you have Saffy evaluated by a veterinarian to have this sampled. This can be done via a fine needle aspirate or a biopsy to determine what this is exactly. If this is infectious, then a second round of antibiotic therapy may be needed. Without pictures and without seeing this in person myself, it is difficult to say what it is and what the most appropriate treatment should be. Some cats develop a condition known as eosinophilic granuloma complex and an indolent ulcer (which shows up on the upper lip typically) is a common presentation of this condition. She may need a round of steroids to help reduce this reaction as it is stimulated by allergies many times or unknown causes.
