Why is my puppy chewing on plants? What can I do to make him stop?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 10 months and 18 days old | 40 lbs

My dog chews off the plants. Y is he doing it? Is there anything I could do to stop this behavior? Before he was eating soil. So I took him to a vet and he gave a medicine. Now he stopped eating soil. But he chews off plants. How to stop this? (There's no place that we could relocate the plants.)

This is likely normal puppy behavior. You can try to block the area of the plants by putting up a barrier or you can try to put a little cayenne pepper powder on the plant leaves to make them taste bad. This doesn’t always work but a lot times it does. I would also check the type of plants they are and make sure they aren’t toxic to dogs. I hope this helps!
