Will my two male cat brothers fight or get territorial as they grow?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 18 days old

Hi. I have two male cats, both are the same age and they're both brothers born from the same mother. They're very loving to us and to each other aswell. But I'm a bit concerned that will they grow up and hate each other? Like other male cats will they also have territorial issues despite living together since birth?

It is possible Buffy and Layla could become aggression toward each other but it's not guaranteed. I'd definitely recommend getting both of them neutered by 6 months of age as this may cut down on fighting. You may also want to purchase a Feliway Multicat diffuser as this will decrease tension in the household. Make sure to Rotate toys for both cats, have at least 3 litter boxes, and a few cat towers where Layla and can get away from each other if they need a break. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and good luck!
