My dog's hair isn't growing back after hotspot treatment. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 2 years old | 70 lbs

Our dog has recently had hotspots treated by our vet. They have dried up after trimming hair, antibiotics and a chlorohexadine wash of the area to get rid of bacteria. Is their anything you can recommend to promote hair regrowth in this area.

Hair regrowth is different in pace with each different dog, it may be very fast or very slow, it is totally random and unpredictable. i would not recommend putting anything topical on the area, just brush the hair around the hotspot to promote blood flow it may help making it grow faster.
