My chihuahua is doing a lot of hacking and a whizing noise. She yaps when picking her up and while at other times laying down. She’s not eating much and seems to stumble at times.Right now she’s taking prednisolone for her cancer. Is there anything I can give her for now?

I'm so sorry to hear about Cassie. She looks like such a sweetheart. If she is taking prednisolone for cancer, I assume this means that she is at a palliative stage where we are just trying to keep her comfortable. Hacking and wheezing may indicate trouble breathing, which can be a sign of lung metastasis, pneumonia, or even just a cold. I worry that her symptoms of yapping and not eating may be a sign of pain. I would suggest taking her to your vet in the morning, where they may do x-rays or blood work to see what stage of cancer she is in right now. Once the cancer has spread, you may need to have a frank discussion about her quality of life and minimizing her suffering. I hope this helps, and that Cassie gets the help that she needs.
