My puppy is drooling a lot and ate Christmas tree needles. Is it serious?

Pet's info: Dog | Labradoodle | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 27 days old | 7 lbs

We have a 7 week labradoodle puppy. He received his first round of shots a little over a week ago and is on his second round of deworming medicine for tape worms and hook worms and round worms. We have noticed in the past week all of a sudden that he is drooling a lot. He drools some throughout the day but seems to be more when he is sleeping. He was also chewing on our real Christmas tree needles and not sure if he has swallowed some of them. What should we do?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Drooling can be sign of nausea which is a typical symptom of a dog with a gastrointestinal foreign body obstruction. Since that is a possibility with Bentley, I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment especially since it is possible that he ingested those needles. Likely diagnostics include abdominal imaging and bloodwork. If an obstruction is noticed or some of those needed are stuck in his gastrointestinal tract, surgery may be recommended. Good luck!
