My dog has a retained puppy. How long can she live without vet care?

If a dog has retained a pup after whelping and doesn't receive medical care how long will they likely live?

If they do not deliver all puppies and stop progressing in labor, the infection from the dead fetus and retained membranes can be fatal within 3-7 days depending on the size of the dog and how many were already delivered. It is best to seek medical care to see if they can induce contractions or do a c section to remove the infected parts
