My dog's neck wart is bleeding and growing. What can I do to help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Rat Terrier | Male | unneutered | 30 lbs

My rat terrier has a wart like growth on his neck that tends to bleed when he scratches it. It has remained roughly the same size until two days ago. It’s gotten bigger. Other than occasionally scratching it, the wart doesn’t interfere with his daily life or activities. What can I do to help him.

You can clean it with soap and water and apply Neosporin to help with the bleeding and discharge. There are no other options at home. Your vet can examine it and discussed surgery options to remove it so you do not have to worry about further episodes of scratching or bleeding. I would recommend this is able since it is growing
