My unspayed pitbull has bloody mucus. Is she in heat or infected?

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 80 lbs

My pitbull fog is 1.5 years old and is unspayed. She has bloody mucus coming out of her.

They are typically swollen and have a bloody discharge when they are in heat. This can last for about 3 weeks. If she has already been in heat then this is a sign there may be a uterine infection which will require treatment and possibly surgery.

    It is possible that your dog is in heat since she has not been spayed. If the signs do not resolve in the next couple of weeks, you should have her checked out by a veterinarian. In the meanwhile, you should probably keep her away from any intact male dogs.
