I'm assuming you are describing a reddish mucousy stool from your description or "raw chicken liver." These changes may indicate blood and mucous in the stool which is often a sign of colitis. Colitis can be caused by intestinal parasites, dietary sensitivity, bacterial overgrowth, or infection. It would be best to have Ginger examined by a veterinarian and to have her stool sample checked for parasites. You can try offending a bland diet of boiled chicken and sweet potato or rice for a meal or two. However, if the diarrhea does not resolve, worsens or any other signs of illness develop (like vomiting, lethargy, or low appetite) then Ginger should see a veterinarian right away. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and I hope Ginger is feeling better soon!
