My cat has soft, fluid-leaking belly bumps. Why is she picking them?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | unspayed | 11 years and 7 months old | 6 lbs

My cat has soft big bumps on her belly and some fluid is appearing on the sheets burn in not sure if it's urine or leaking from her lumps. I can't see any openings on her lumps. She started to pick the fluid. I don't know what's going on with these lumps.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Without pictures it is difficult for me to say for sure what these could be. I would suspect cysts or tumors (benign or malignant). The fact she is unspayed and that she is almost 12 years old has me concerned that these are mammary tumors, which most of the time are cancerous and need to be surgically removed. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Ally and look at these further to help better determine what the course of treatment should entail. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be happy to help you further.

Unfortunately it looks like to me that your cat may have a mammary tumor. Those can be common in cats who aren't spayed, and 90% of these tumors are malignant. This is something that needs to be checked out by a vet as soon as possible. If she does have mammary tumors, they will need to be removed surgically and she will have to have local lymph nodes biopsied to see if the cancer has spread. I would call a vet today to get her an appointment right away. Best of luck!
