I have a 9 month old golden lab. He was not able to get up from bed this morning. He is very sleepy today and is reluctant to run or climb stairs. He is having problem in putting weight on one of his back legs. What is the problem?

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. From your description, I would suspect that this is due to pain from an injury or bone pain due to a condition known as panosteitis. Panosteitis occurs in larger dogs that have rapid growth. Genetic predisposition has been shown to be a factor as well. Rest and decreasing exercise along with anti inflammatory medications will help. This condition will typically resolve on its own if that is what this is. If this is an injury, I would still recommend the same. I hope this helps! If there is no improvement or the lameness worsens, I would recommend havi g brownie examined by a vet and having xrays taken to help rule out the causes. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
