My indoor cat has skin bumps. Could they be dead ticks or biting lice?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 6 years and 11 months old | 13 lbs

I’ll cat has bumps under her skin. I thought they could be dead ticks because I treat her every month. She is an indoor cat. She lets me comb and pull at them. Today I was able to pull it out by combining and pulling at it. Could it be dead ticks? Also what are biting lice?

Lice are very species specific and can be found moving around on the skin and fur. Ticks attach to the skin also and appear to be as small watts. Dead ticks should be easy to remove. Most topicals that treat for ticks will also cover you for lice so you should not worry about that. If you can post a picture of the spots in the skin or what you removed it may help get your more information.
