Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 18 lbs
My 4-year-old Shih Tzu vomits bile, usually in the morning; and sometimes later in the day if he hasn't eaten. I have taken him to 3 different vets. I was told because he doesn't eat on regular basis, he vomits. But when I try to feed him small meals throughout day, he won't eat unless hungry. I've tried probiotics/prebiotics, colostrum, special concoction from holistic vet, digestion aids., etc. I've tried to feed him before bedtime, etc. What can I do to keep him from vomiting bile?

Once I have ruled out other concerns such as parasites and blood work to rule out other concerns I usually dispense a medication called metoclopramide. This stimulates the GI tract to keep moving which usually decreases bilious vomiting. I am usually able to use once daily, but it can be used up to three times daily. I would encourage you discuss this possibility with your veterinarian. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
