My dog has seizures and White Tremor Syndrome. Can she recover?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | unspayed | 10 months and 5 days old | 9 lbs

Wednesday she started having seizures, after various tests all my vets could think of is White Tremor Syndrome. Padme looks really bad, can she recover from this? I am desperate. I read that prednisone and Valium is good treatment, a natural aquivalent to prednisone is Serrapeptase, could it work on her? Please anything you can tell me that is causing seizures will he helpful. Keep in mind blood tests, x rays and other analysis came clean. I want to save her life, but should I let her go?

Since Padme is so young I would actually recommend a neurology consult. They will be able to discuss other options with you if they feel that something else can be causing the seizures. They also may want to perform more diagnostics than just blood work and x-rays. If they do state White Tremor Syndrome is the cause I would recommend the treatment that your veterinarian has recommended. I would do prednisone over a dietary supplement like Serrapeptase. Some dogs fully recover while others do not. If Padme does well with the steroids she can slowly be weaned off and hopefully not need them again. I hope Padme does well and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
