Dog has green poop with red streaks. What dewormer for parasites?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 100 lbs

Hey I have a question about intestinal parasites. My dog has green feces most of it solid then the top is loose it also has a streak of red in it. The only thing this could be is parasites because he can’t get into anything. I just want to know what kind of dewormer to buy for whatever worm(s) because I can’t afford to go the vet. He acts normal and eats normal, nothing seems to be off.

This is an assumption of worms because of the color change, but a simple bacterial infection can also cause a change in the color of the poop. At any rate you can try giving Roscoe a broad spectrum dewormer such as Fenbendazole, which covers hookworms, roundworms and whipworms. Visit your local pet store or feed store to see what is available in your area. Hopefully things get better within the next week or so. You can also add a probiotic like Culturelle (over the counter) in his food daily to help with any bacterial imbalance which is suggested because of the blood you are seeing in the stool. You will also need to repeat the deworming in 2 weeks time. I hope this helps and best wishes with your pet Roscoe. Take care.
