My dog's coat is changing color and shedding a lot. Is this normal?

I started realizing about a week ago my dogs coat was turning colors when I come him the amount of hair that was coming out was scary. It's been a few days and I can tell where the hair is going to come out next and I can easily pull it out. He's acting completely fine and I haven't seen any sores.

I'm wondering if Mugen is simply 'blowing his coat'. Basically the entire hair coat will shed out. Some dogs do this on a regular basis. Some only do it every once in a while. I would recommend to monitor him for any lesions on the skin, itching, bald patches and basically anything that looks like disease. Dogs will typically blow their coats for a couple weeks then it stops. If something seems questionable, head to the vet. Hope this helps!
