Cefpet, or cefpodoxime, is a cephalosporin antibiotic that can be used to treat bacterial skin infections in many cases, provided that the bacteria are not resistant to this medication. I'm not sure what type of stomach infection you are referring to since the stomach does not typically become infected without the presence of serious medical conditions. As a result, I can't comment as to the possible efficacy of cefpodoxime in this situation. As with any prescription medication, Andy's veterinarian should be able to advise you as to the best course of treatment. I hope that all goes well for Andy!

Cefpodoxime is an antiobiotic that is great for skin problems, but I have never used it for stomach problems. The most common side effect that we see from this product is some diarrhea which is possible with any antibiotic. If a veterinarian hasn't examined Stuffy, I would recommend that before giving any medication. If your vet has examined Stuffy and recommended this medication, then I wouldn't have any concerns about using it. I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
