Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund miniature | Male | 4 years and 7 months old

Miniature 4-year old male smooth black/tan dachshund had soft nodule appear 2 days ago on head, could feel it under his fur, located 2 cm above eye, 0.5 cm tall, then next day skin split open, showing red raw flesh, is draining colorless drainage and is starting to dry and scab. No other symptoms in dog, no other lesions. Both dogs in home are fully immunized. Other dog is playful pup who bites(easy) and licks him. What could this be? And will this permanently scar him? What do you recommend?

This growth needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Dexter to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.
