My budgie has a dark spot on its upper beak. Should I be worried?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | neutered | 6 years and 6 months old

My budgies beak is sized well, smooth and he is very healthy. But in the last few days I’ve noticed what appears to be a dark area in his upper beak, in the middle down in the centre of the point. I’m very worried it could be serious. Should I get him checked out? Thank you.

Hi and thank you for this question. Looking at the picture, I do not see anything to worry about. Difficult to say at this resolution what the cause of the dark pigmentation is though. I would just watch it for now. It does not appear to be too serious.
