My 10-year-old pug is panting, restless, and acting strange. What's wrong?

my 10 year old pug started acting weird. He is looking side to side, panting really hard. He not acting like his lazy pug self. He hasn't went to sleep in over 12 hours,( normally he sleeps all night and off and on all day,.). Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Male | neutered | 10 years and 7 months old | 40 lbs

The first thing I would check for is if he possibly got into any drugs, poisons, medications or chocolate. All of these can cause excitable behavior like this. If this is not possible, then this behavior could indicate that he has a disease affecting the heart or the brain. In either case, I recommend taking Bam Bam to the emergency vet for an evaluation and treatment, because he could have life-threatening complications.
