Why is there red liquid in my dog's soft stool after illness?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Male | 1 month and 29 days old | 10 lbs

My dog has been sick so I gave him wet food. He has been eating wet food the past 2 days and has been drinking like normal. He got much better and is acting very happy and active. He is energetic and genuinely seems happy. He has very soft brown almost liquidy stool. He just went to the bathroom and there was a small amount of reddish liquid along with his stool, what could this be?

A reddish liquid is most likely traces of blood. . Offer him boiled boneless chicken and rice every 4-6 hours in small portions. if he is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put him back gradually on his normal food. If the problem remains, take him to the vet to get treatment.
