My dog keeps reverse sneezing and has lumps on her jaw. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 11 months and 16 days old | 14 lbs

My pet is still doing the reverse sneeze thing. It’s been 4/5 months. She is a terrier mix, she has “bulbs” at the bottom jawline by her throat. Is this normal? I didn’t notice before so is she allergic to something?

Reverse sneezing looks and sounds very aggressive but it is quite benign. The bulbs you are seeing are likely is salivary glands or lymph nodes but of course, I cannot say for sure without doing an exam of my own. For the reverse sneezing you can try Benadryl. See the link below. Since I cannot confirm that those “bulbs” are normal for her and since you don’t recall these previously, I would have your vet take a look at them. Your vet can confirm they are benign or if they are something to be concerned about. I hope this helps. https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/benadryl/
