My puppy has a red sore on her stomach. Is it a skin infection?

My puppy has a sore i guess on her stomach. I have a picture if you would like. I’ve cleaned it with soap and water and put some bacetracin on it.

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Remy. This looks like a bacterial skin infection, often called staph pyoderma/bacterial dermatitis. I would advise taking Remy to your veterinarian and let them gather a history and perform an examination. Based on their findings, they will probably advise treating this infection. This may involve a medicated shampoo, oral antibiotics, anti-itch medicines, etc. Good luck with Remy. This type of skin infection is NOT contagious to other dogs or people.

    Poor Lulu! Round red sores like this are usually caused by a bacterial or fungal skin infection. Because some of these infections (such as ringworm) can be contagious to humans and other animals, I would recommend having Lulu examined by a vet as soon as you are able to. He/she can do some simple skin tests to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate medication to treat it.
