My dog home from parvo, not eating/drinking, panting. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | 2 months and 19 days old | 8.5 lbs

My dog just home from the vet's 5hrs ago. He was in there for 3 full days being treated for parvo, which he responded well to the treatment. He hasn't eaten or drank anything since he got home. He ia also panting faster then normal. My vet is closed until 9am tomorrow. Is this normal for them be like this. I know parvo knocks them about and we actually got it pretty early. I don't know if I'm just being paranoid or not.

Yes it's quite normal, parvo is a very painful disease that makes them very weak and appetite may vary greatly for several days at the very least. you need to give it a day or two at least, as long as he is not vomiting that is the most important thing.
