Hi, I have a 1 year old Shih Tzu called Theo. Last monday he started losing his voice, at tuesday he was limping so I immediately went to the vet. They did X rays and blood tests, but nothing showed up. At night, he didn't have strength to even get up from the floor. Since wednesday, he can't move anything but only his eyes and mouth. He is hospitalized now, and did several tests (canine distemper, botulism, more X rays, tick-borne disease, Myasthenia Gravis) but we still havent found nothi .

Oh goodness. My initial thoughts are to comb his whole body, including looking in his ears for a tick- as occasionally their saliva can cause tick paralysis. I would also consider getting an MRI if one is available. Encephalitis due to parasites, immune disorders, or cancers are on my list, as is a disorder called Coonhound paralysis. We don’t really know what causes this, but it usually wil reverse in time. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon! Thank you for using Pet Coach!
