My dog is limping after his paw was stepped on. What should I do?

The other day our husky stepped on our poodle's paw and he seemed to have gotten hurt but then we thought it was fine. Today he began to limp a little and hardly walk on the paw where the husky stepped on.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Bruno! Possible causes of Bruno's limp are: strain or a sprain from being stepped on, if he is older it could have aggravated arthritis, a toe or a bone could be broken, or it could be something unrelated like Lyme disease. Since Bruno can hardly walk on the leg that indicates pain. I recommend having Bruno seen by your Vet for an exam. If there is concern for the paw then they may want to take X-rays, otherwise they may just prescribe anti-inflammatories and rest. I hope this helps and I wish Bruno a speedy recovery!

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I do not see any swelling of Rocky's feet in the photo. However, a fracture or damage to the joint or ligaments is possible, especially if Rocky has been limping for several days. Unfortunately, I am unable to prescribe any pain medication without examining Rocky, so she should be seen by your vet as soon as possible. They can perform x-rays to rule out a fracture and give Rocky pain medication to keep him comfortable.
