My cat is vomiting after another cat died. Is it grief or illness?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

We had two cats. One died. Other cat now missing lots. Blobs of spit on carpet this morning. Sick twice today. Is this a reaction to other cat not being here anymore? The cats didn't really get on very well with each other.

No, this is not a reaction to the death of the other cat, it is a medical condition, most probably a gastrointestinal infection. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.
