My male Siamese cat is licking a rash. What is it and how to treat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Male | neutered | 3 years and 11 months old | 9 lbs

Hi, I saw my 3 year old male Siamese cat licking the rash you see in the photos. I’m trying to identify what it is, and how it should be treated. He is an indoor cat. Thank you very much!

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Based on your photos, I would suspect this to be an abscess or mammary tumor. Although rare in male cats, mammary tumors can occur. If you would like to try therapy at home first, I would recommend using spray such as malacetic conditioning spray and apply to the area twice daily until resolved. If there is no improvement or the area worsens I would have a veterinarian examine this for further treatment recommendations. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction! Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
