can a cat bite cause anaphylaxis? i take care of an stray cat who had an infected paw I took him to the vet and he bit me cuz he was scared after a few hours of the bite I started to have trouble breathing and got taken to the ER so I was wondering if the bite could’ve been the cause since I wasn’t allergic to anything else

I am not aware of a cat bite causing anaphylaxis. Possibly something they used on the cat topically touched you and you were allergic to that product? Or something that you cleaned your bite wound with may have caused the reaction? I think it is highly unlikely that the cat bite caused your symptoms. Please, you need to be very careful getting bitten by a stray cat. They can carry rabies and rabies is fatal. Do you know if the cat was vaccinated against rabies? If you are unsure you need to speak to your vet about this as they will have to quarantine the cat. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
