Why is my cat's eye pink with beige discharge? Could it be pink eye?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 12 years and 2 months old

My cats inner eye is pink and I don't know what's wrong. It noticed it Friday. There's discharge coming out and it's not clear it's beige in color. She's acting fine I haven't seen her rubbing her eye and her eye is white just the skin around her eye is pink like her waterline and tear duct. I have a feeling it's pink eye but I don't know? What do you think

Thank you for providing pictures of Milu and her eye, she is very cute! Yes, it could be that she is suffering from an eye infection, which would cause discharge from the eye and redness. It could also be allergies, but without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain. I can say, however, that any eye problem is considered an emergency because the eye is such a delicate and important structure. Leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss, so I would get her into a vet as soon as possible. The vet can examined and diagnosed her eye problem so it can be treated. Good luck, I hope this helps!
