My dog has severe diarrhea and is nauseous. When should I worry?

My greyhound has severe diarrhoea and looks like she wants to vomit. She has had the diarrhoea scince Friday evening and has started looking like she wants to vomit today.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. I would recommend withholding food for 6 hours and then starting a bland diet as outlined below. If the vomiting and diarrhea do not stop, I would recommend having her examined by a veterinarian. There can be many different causes of vomiting and diarrhea and she should see a vet so that it can be better determined what the cause could be and the most appropriate treatment administered. I get worried about dehydration with both vomiting and diarrhea and if she continues to have both, she will need to have her fluids replenished from all of the fluid loss she is going through with the vomiting and diarrhea.
