My puppy ate snow. Why is he having indoor potty accidents now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

It snowed for the first time this year and Tank loved the snow. He has played in it and eaten it every time he went out. But I noticed that he’s had many accidents today inside the house. He is almost completely potty trained. Could eating snow cause him to have accidents? What else could it be?

My guess is that he is just having more than normal water intake from eating the snow. Basically, his bladder is filling up faster than normal and he has to pee more now. This means he will need more potty breaks. If the accidents continue after the snow if gone, then I would be more concerned about a bladder infection as a potential cause. I hope that helps and all is well with Tank.
