My cats have cat flu. Is it worth isolating them if they're exposed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 8 months and 27 days old | 6 lbs

Hi, I have 4 cats . Seem like I got an other round of cat flu coming. 1 of them has his eyes already swollen and sneezing. Today I heard the other ones sneezing as well but there isn't any discharge yet from their eyes / nose. I'm just wandering if there is any point to isolate them or it wouldn't really make a difference at all by now? I would only separate them if it's absolutely necessary since my cats are really used to each other and they look very stressed if the others are not around.

At this point they have all been exposed so there is no point in isolating any of them. The only thing you won't want to do is introduce a new cat or let these cats outside. You need to quarantine your cats to your house until they are well. I suggest you nebulize the ones showing sneezing and swollen eyes. I would also recommend you give them all a lysine supplement to boost their immune systems. If they don't like the chews/treats you can search around because it comes in various forms - powder, gel, treats, etc. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
