Can my cat get sick from amaryllis residue left in the sink?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

If I washed my hands in my bathroom sink lastnight after handling my New Amaryllis that I put out of my cats reach upstairs with my other plants in my sunroom. I was gifted as a Christmas gift, but know its toxic (Hence why I washed after handling it) to pets although the toxicity comes from ingesting/chewing it and not the contact part. Can my cat get sick if she hopped up into my sink a few minutes ago when I was in there gathering my laundry, After having washed my hands in it lastnight?

No. That is highly unlikely to occur. The cat needs to chew/ingest the plant for toxicity to occur. It is not a contact toxin.
