Why is my husky acting strange with a hard, growing neck lump?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | 90 lbs

My 1yr. Old husky is very active, but since yesterday she has been acting strange, we took her collar off to just let her breath, and we noticed a lump, after about an hour it got bigger, I was asked to released ask this question and attach pic. But my phone us not letting me, we have another dog and they play rough, and it bites at the neck, so maybe we think that, but the lump is hard, and the best way I can describe, is when a frog blows it's throat out, that's what her neck is looking at

Poor Sasha! If you have another dog that plays rough with her and bites at the neck, it could be that a bite broke the skin and has now caused an abscess. A dog's mouth has a lot of bacteria in it, and dog bites can lead to abscesses. I would keep the collar off of her, and have her seen by a vet. The vet can diagnose if she does have an abscess. Should she have one, it will need to be drained and flushed sterilely, and she will need antibiotics to treat the infection. Abscesses are painful and that would cause her to act differently, so it's best to get her into a vet as soon as possible, especially since the lump is getting bigger. Good luck, I hope this helps!
