My dog has a painful ear bump. Is it a hematoma? Should I see a vet?

Hello. My name is Lena. I have 2 french bulldogs. Male and female. But recently a bump from my male dog's ear formed. We researched it and we thought it was called Hemetoma. And it's a little hard to touch. And when its accidentally touched he just make a noise or a signal that he's hurt. What home remedies should we do? What food should we feed him/them? Should we take him to the vet clinic right away? Is is harmful? Sorry if my questions are alot. Thank you in advance.

Hi there. I would recommend taking Tommy to the veterinarian. If it is a hematoma, they will likely drain it, which will make him more comfortable. Often these patients have an ear infection as well that will need to be treated. Of course if it is not a hematoma they can help make a diagnosis and treatment plan him.     You should schedule an assessment with your vet in order to drain the hematoma and identify the underlying cause of the ear discomfort which has caused it. It may be necessary to sedate her in order to fully assess and treat the ears and the hematoma deending on the extent of the problem

My dog has a large pus pocket in his ear what do i do with it
This is actually filled with blood. This is a hematoma between the skin layers in the ear flap. They develop when dogs scratch or shake their heads excessively, usually from an ear infection or some type of allergy. Generally this requires a veterinary exam and surgical drainage. They will also check Dozer's ears to see if they are infected or try to find the cause of the hematoma. He will need to wear a cone probably until the ear heals. Without treatment the ear swelling will go down but it may take a month or more and the ear will scar up and become deformed. This can be uncomfortable and there is a risk of infection so I recommend veterinary treatment soon. Thanks for using Boop by Petco to help you care for Dozer.

My dog is 2 years old and has been constantly shaking his head and scratching his ear for the past mont and today I saw a huge bump on the inner part of his ear flap it is very swollen . What is wrong with his ear ?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! What you describe sounds like an ear hematoma. This condition can develop from head shaking which in turn can occur as a result of allergies or an infection so this may be the primary issue. This is usually treated surgically with drainage and a minor surgical procedure to avoid reaccumulation of blood. However, it could be something else like inflammation or an infection. For this reason, I recommend that you have Lucky evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck!

I was wondering why my dog has a liquid filled lump on its ear? It does not seem as if something has bit him and I was wondering if there was any remedy to resolve this issue? Thank you.
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Rambo! It appears as though he has an ear hematoma. This is blood that fills up under the skin and above the cartilage in the ear. It can be from trauma to the ear or fractured cartilage from head shaking from an ear infection. There is no home remedy except to give it time to resolve. It usually leaves the ear pinna crinkled and thickened. I suggest a Vet exam to check for an ear infection, to have the hematoma drained and to start steroids. There are also surgical options. My Groodle (1yo) has a dark lump in its ear, just under 1cm diameter. It recently had some gunk which we treated with Apex PMP Ear Suspension, and it cleared up. But it did shake its head a lot and still does a few times a day. From what I've read on
It doesn't look like an hematoma. this lump needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take him to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.

Thank you for the picture and clarification. This looks like it could be an aural hematoma, which is when fluid gets trapped between the layers of the ear. This is usually a sign of an ear infection. I'd have this checked out by a vet.

Charlie likely has an aural hematoma. This is where essentially blood fills a pocket under the skin. This is likely to grow in size and could become infected and causing pain. Sometimes we have to do surgery to drain this other times we can treat it with an injection. This can cause scarring of his ear. I recommend Charlie get examined by his veterinarian today to prevent complications. He may also have an your infection that needs to be treated to prevent him from continuing to shake his head.

My Pomeranian has a growth/cyst on his ear that has been getting bigger and is now massive and painful for him when I touch it. It feels like it is ready to burst but I obviously don’t want to do that because of infection.
This lump/bump/growth should be ideally examined by your local vet to have a diagnosis established. Your vet may want to perform an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy to sample the bump and determine its underlying nature. Differentials would include skin cysts, infections, benign or more malignant type of tumors. My dog has a bump on his ear that feels like a blister under his skin. There is no marks on it. It's getting bigger. What could it be. It feels like air in the bump.
If it’s inside of the ear flap then it’s most likely an aural hematoma. That is from scratching or shaking the head and a blood vessel in the ear flap ruptures and the blood is trapped between the skin layers. This can be a result of allergies or a skin infection. Having your veterinarian drain the fluid and check for infection or allergies is recommended. If you leave it alone it will takes months to resolve and the ear will become scarred and abnormal. My dog is developing a bump on his ear flap since 45 days. It is soft on palpation,fast growing and painless as well. What will be the treatment.?
This kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Differentials include skin cysts, infections, benign or more sinister type of tumors.
