Why does my cat have bumps on his back after changing food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Turkish Angora | Male | neutered | 1 year old | 10 lbs

My cat has zits all over his back , they started to appear two days ago and now there’s more of them , we changed his food type about a week ago so could that be a reason why those zits appeared ? And if not then what are they and are they a serious problem ??

From the picture it looks like Neve may have a skin infection. This could be bacterial or something fungal such as ringworm. I suppose there could be a good connection if she has an allergy to the new food, but that may take a while to sort out. I would encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian soon. In the meantime please practice good hygiene after handling her as ring worm is contagious to people as well. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon! Thank you for using Pet Coach.
