Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 5 months and 28 days old | 7 lbs
Hi I have a 6 month old male kitten who has problems with leaking urine. He is almost always a little wet and dribbles urine without even realizing it, especially when he is sleeping or lying down. For a time, his genital area was very swollen as well, and our veterinarian gave us antibiotics to reduce swelling but otherwise did not know what the problem was and said she would be able to refer us to a specialist if we did not see him improve. We do not know if we would be able to afford it.

I would recommend seeing the specialist. I don't know exactly if or what diagnostics your veterinarian has run but I would make sure you completely rule out a urinary tract infection with a urine culture. After this the specialist can perform an abdominal ultrasound to make sure Cham Cham doesn't have something called ectopic ureters. This is when the ureter is not attached to the proper place in the bladder. The ureter carries the urine from the kidneys to the bladder. Here is a website that has some non-profits that may be able to help with the cost of veterinary care. You can always look into this. There is also care credit, which is a 0% interest medical credit card that you can pay over time. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
