Are pachyphytum succulents toxic to cats? How to keep them safe.

Please could you tell me if pachyphytum succulents are toxic to cats?

I'm finding some information to suggest that yes they could be toxic to cats, but not a definitive answer to your question. My recommendation is to keep your pachyphytum succulent out of reach of your cat to keep Jackson from chewing at it. You can keep in up on a high shelf or in a cage to keep him away from it. If you want to plant it outside, I recommend not doing it if he is allowed outside. Hope this helps!

Not all succulents are toxic, but to know for sure you would need the genus and species of plant. Some of them look very similar, toxic or not. Once you have this information, you can search online. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! You are correct tulips are toxic to cats. The toxins are more concentrated in the bulbs. If a cat ingests a lot of the plant it can experience drooling, GI upset, breathing problems, high heart rate and neurologic signs like seizures. If you want to keep the plants be sure to put them where Lumi can’t get too. Cats are athletic and can jump up high. I hope this help!

My cat ate 3 of this this plant called Pachypodium lamerei leaf 2 days ago and she didn't vomit.today again she ate maybe 4 leaf.hasn't vomit anything yet and is playing.is it poisoning for her?
The Pachypodium lamerei is also known as the Madagascar Palm, and from what I can find, it does appear to be toxic to cats. It has a highly toxic sap and if ingested it can cause "vomiting, diarrhea, a lack of appetite, lethargy, an irregular heartbeat, and even death if consumed in large amounts" according to the ASPCA. I would move this plant out of Lucy's reach, even throwing it away or giving it away so she doesn't have any access to it. If you do see any of the signs I mentioned above, take her into a vet right away. I hope this helps!

From what I've been able to find, the sap is an irritant, but not as toxic as many more frequently encountered plants, such as oleander. Watch for signs of skin reddening and rash, in a cat that was silly enough to taste it, blistering of the tongue and mucous membranes of the mouth is likely. It sounds like you found it quickly. Just be careful of having plants around cats, so many are toxic. For a list of plants, both toxic and non-toxic, visit the ASPCA website. They also have a free app for your phone.

Hello. It is always best to be safe than to be sorry. If you are at all unsure about a plant, it may be best to either move it to a room the cat cannot get access to, or rehome the plant. The problem with potting soil of any kind is that cats love to dig in it. There can be harmful ingredients in the potting soil such a chemical fertilizers added to make the plant grow and insecticides to kill pests. Given this potting soil feeds plants for up to six months, I would assume that it contains chemical fertilizers that can potentially hurt your cat. To prevent her from having any chance of getting into this potting soil, I would hang your plants from the walls or ceiling. That would keep her from getting into them. As for toxic signs, it depends on the ingredients in the soil, but you could see neurological signs (difficulty walking, seizures, tremors), vomiting, anorexic, and extreme lethargy. I would hang your plants from the ceiling to keep your cat from getting into the soil at all. You can also create greenhouselike terrariums with lids to keep her out of the plants.

That looks like a Philodendron and it is toxic to cats and dogs. It is not life threatening. This plant contains tiny little crystals in the leaves called Calcium oxalate crystals. When the keaves are chewed, the plant can cause drooling, mouth pain, inappetance, vomiting and pawing at the mouth. Sometimes swelling of the oral tissue can occur. It is best to keep this plant out of the reach of your cats. If that is not possible, remove it from the house.

Hello, thank you for your question. Ultimately this depends on your comfort level. In my opinion if the cats have any time at home/in your room that is unsupervised I would be worried about having the primroses out. Cats are curious animals and may try to jump onto the shelves to investigate the new addition. However, if you are home all the time with them or keep them out of your room while you're away, I don't think it would be wrong to keep the flowers. Hope this helps!

The stems, seeds, and leaves of the peach are toxic to cats because they contain cyanide. Ingesting them can cause dilated pupils, difficulty breathing, brick red mucous membranes, panting, and shock. To be safe, I would keep Chloe out of the tree.

At worst, you may see some oral irritation, drooling or stomach upset. The plant contains calcium oxalate crystals which are very irritating. If you've seen no symptoms, they are likely not affected. If it happens again, rinse the mouth with cool water for 10-15 minutes and offer a bland diet in small, frequent amounts until any symptoms resolve.
