Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 12 years and 11 months old | 7 lbs

I am dog sitting our neighbors yorkie . They gave us a bottle of of the dogs medication and a small syringe and said to give it to her once a day until the medicine was gone but there were no instructions on dosage. The box with the pharmacy, doctor, and dosage was not with the medication - only the bottle. We cannot get in touch with the owners, and have no idea who the vet is. The dog has mouth warts the meds are Azithromycin suspension 200MG/5ML. She is 7 lb and 12 years old.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Azithromycin is an antibiotic. We commonly prescribe it for upper respiratory infections or infectious coughs. I have used it to speed up the regression of viral papillomas. The medication is once daily and should be given with food. I would give her no more than 0.50 mls once daily. I hope this helps!
